Oh Hey!

My name is Jodi, and I'm here for the women who spend their lives taking care of everyone else. The women who have forgotten what it feels like to truly see themselves. Through boudoir photography, my mission is to help you reconnect with your strength, your beauty, and the woman you've always been.

My Love for the Human Body

I have always been fascinated by the human body, even from a young age. Biology was my favourite subject in school, and the human body unit was the part I loved most. I dreamed of becoming a doctor, maybe even a surgeon. I was amazed by how the body works and all the incredible things it is capable of.
Of course, in high school, my priorities weren't exactly focused on getting good grades. I was more interested in spending time with friends and enjoying my youth.

I became a mom at a young age, and during my son's first year of life, we spent much of it in the hospital as he battled cancer. After that horrific year, we wanted a fresh start and moved to Nova Scotia. When his father and I separated, I put myself through paramedic school. But as a single mom living in Nova Scotia, the shift work and long hours became impossible to maintain. I had very little support, just one close friend and no family nearby to help with childcare. After a few years, I was exhausted. Tired of struggling financially. Tired of carrying the weight alone. Tired of being so far away from my family.

So, I moved home and went back to school again, this time to become a Unit Clerk. I figured that working in a hospital would help me discover what I truly wanted to do, because at that point I still believed my future was in healthcare.

I worked casually at our local hospital until a full-time position opened at a medical clinic. I've now been there for three years, and I still absolutely love what I do and the people I work alongside.

How My Medical Career Shaped My Boudoir Photography

Because I've seen it. I've felt it.

Every single day, I watch people put themselves last.

I hear patients say, "I've been meaning to get this checked out, but the kids have been so busy with sports."

I hear coworkers say, "I was hoping to have a bath and go to bed early, but ended up having to chart until 2 a.m. last night."

I am surrounded by independent, powerful, courageous women who constantly show up for everyone except themselves. My mom. My sisters. My friends. The nurses, doctors, and office staff I work beside every day.

These women are always asking, "How can I help?" and rarely asking, "What do I need?"

They work all day, only to go home and continue working. They cheer from the sidelines at baseball games, cut their husband's hair, make supper, clean up messes, care for children, support aging parents, and somehow still keep going.

And somewhere along the way, they forget themselves.

The Beginning of Untamed Photographs

When I married my husband, I decided to do a boudoir session as a wedding gift for him.

I was terrified.

I remember standing in my sister's house, trying on every piece of lingerie I owned. We narrowed it down to a few outfits, but even on the drive to the session, I was second-guessing every single choice. Despite my sister assuring me that I looked beautiful and sexy, I didn't truly believe her.

For the entire thirty-minute drive, I was trying to convince myself she was right, while simultaneously trying not to throw up.

But once the session began, everything changed. My photographer did an incredible job making me feel comfortable. Slowly, I started to believe her when she told me I looked amazing. I started to believe that maybe, just maybe, I actually did.

My confidence grew.
What started as fear became fun.
Then it became empowering.
Then it became strength.
When I left that session, I felt unstoppable.

I called my friends. My sisters. I talked to women at the clinic about how incredible the experience had been and how every woman deserved to feel that way at least once. As it turns out, I convinced one of my coworkers.

She wanted to do a boudoir session as a Christmas gift for her husband, but she couldn't afford the $3,000 price tag. She knew I dabbled in photography and asked if I could help.

At the time, I knew absolutely nothing about professional photography. I simply loved taking pictures and wanted to help a friend.

So, I did what anyone would do. I Googled.
I found a few poses, downloaded an editing app, and took photos of her using my phone.
And oh my goodness, I fell in love.

Being behind the camera was just as empowering as being in front of it. Watching her confidence grow throughout the session. Seeing her light up when I showed her the images. Witnessing her see herself differently.

It was one of the most rewarding and powerful experiences of my life.

In that moment, I knew this was something I needed to pursue.
So, I did.

I dusted off an old DSLR camera and immersed myself in learning everything I could about photography and boudoir. I bought books, watched countless YouTube videos, invested in courses, and joined mentorship programs with high-end boudoir photographers.

I learned lighting, camera settings, posing, editing, website design, marketing, everything.

I photographed friends, family, and anyone willing to step in front of my camera.

I poured every spare minute, every extra dollar, and every piece of my heart and soul into building what is now Untamed Photographs.

My Boudoir Photography Mission Today

Through this journey, I have transformed.

I no longer see the human body as simply fascinating, beautiful, or intriguing.

I see it as art.

Every scar. Every curve. Every stretch mark. Every wrinkle. Every chapter.

Art.

And my mission through Untamed is simple: to help you see the art within yourself, too.

  • I am a medical office assistant by day, boudoir photographer by passion.

  • Don't talk to me before I have my coffee.

  • Small-town Alberta girl. I moved to Nova Scotia for five years, and as much as I loved it, I still couldn't resist coming home.

  • We are starting to grow our farm with some pigs and cattle. We also have a corgi.

  • I will absolutely hype you up during your session, without even realizing I'm doing it.

  • I cry during emotional client reveals, or when you message me after your shoot telling me how amazing you feel.
